Cincinnati Urban Adventures

I wanted to share with all of you the start-up of my new business Cincinnati Urban Adventures, in partnership with Intrepid Travel and Urban Adventures.  I’ll be leading tours of Cincinnati that I’ve developed and will eventually hire Tour Guides to help out when the business starts to boom!  I believe if you are passionate about something, continue learning, and take steps towards turning those passions into a way of making money, you’re certain to be successful.

I will continue with my photography business Sherry Lachelle Photography and working as a Freelance Photographer for Cincinnati Refined, along with taking people on trips around the world through my website, Travel Spirit Meetup.  In fact, I just planned a trip to Portugal and Southern Spain for the end of February.  I’ve been to Lisbon, Portugal and to Spain, but am looking forward to exploring Seville, Granada, and Cordoba, Spain.

I’ve been working long hours between all of my endeavors, but it doesn’t feel like work, most of the time, because I love it!

Follow my new business on Instagram and Facebook.  You can also follow my Sherry Lachelle Photography on Facebook.

Wish me luck!

2015 in Review

Looking back at my photographs from 2015, the year was filled with fun, family, friends, and travel!  In the Spring, I drove to Amish country in northern Ohio from Cincinnati and had a wonderful day taking photographs of the lovely countryside!

In August, my annual girls’ weekend at Put-in-Bay, Ohio was so much fun!  Last year we had a blast there and decided to return.

My travel business “Travel Spirit Meetup” is growing with over 300 members and in September I took six people to the Mediterranean coast where we hiked along the Lycian Way trail and explored the cute villages.  Our second stop to Istanbul exceeded all expectations!  Turkish people are so friendly!

Continuing to work as a photographer for Cincinnati Refined, I had 36 photography assignments and wrote nine travel articles.  One of the assignments was for the ReelAbilities Film Festival and was excited to photograph Marlee Matlin, Nick Clooney, and his wife.

Spending time with family was special!  For one of our family get-togethers, my husband and I took our son and his girlfriend to the Museum Center in Cincinnati and we spent an afternoon along the Ohio River.

Itinerary for Upcoming trip to Guatemala and Nicaragua

I finished an itinerary for my Travel Spirit Meetup to visit Guatemala and Nicaragua for 10 nights in February and March of 2016.  I’ve always wanted to visit these countries and can’t wait to walk the ancient cobblestone streets and immerse myself in these colorful cultures!

Upon arrival in Guatemala, we’ll travel 1 hour by shuttle to the UNESCO World Heritage City of Antigua, where we’ll explore the historic architecture, surrounded by three volcanoes and abundant natural beauty!  Both of these countries need tourists to bring money to their economies.

One day will be spent taking a boat ride on magical Lake Atitlan with stops at two villages nestled in the surrounding hills to visit primitive art galleries, a women’s textile cooperative to see hand weaving, and try some local dishes at lunch time, with amazing views of the lake and volcanoes.

We’ll also take a half day tour to visit a local family to see how they live, visit the school to meet the children, and learn how an NGO is helping to break the cycle of poverty.

After four glorious nights, we’ll hop on a short plane ride to Managua, Nicaragua and take a 2 1/2 hour shuttle to the Pacific coastal town of San Juan del sur for three days of fun in the sun!

Next up, a 1 1/2 hr. shuttle ride will bring us to the colorful town of Granada, Nicaragua!  I have a walking tour mapped out to visit the local churches, parks, and their Chocolate Museum.

Some of the optional activities will be zip-lining, kayaking, climbing a volcano, and a coffee plantation tour.  I’m limiting the trip to six of us, and am giving a presentation Tuesday evening to a group of fellow travelers.  February is a great time to visit these countries, with highs in the 80’s, plus we’ll be sick of winter by then!
