A trip to Put-in-Bay, also known as the “Key West of the North”, isn’t complete unless you rent a golf cart. After disembarking from the Jet Express ferry ($33 pp round-trip) from Port Clinton, our first stop was to pick up our ride. We didn’t reserve a cart ahead of time, but they had plenty. Splitting the $80 day rental fee between four of us, made it quite affordable.
Seated on the back…taking photographs while we were racing along was fun…
We didn’t encounter any crazy drivers…just a few traffic jams.
Sherry was our trusty chauffeur most of the time. I enjoyed taking photographs of the passing scenery and we made frequent stops to enjoy a beautiful view, have a drink at a cool venue, and of course, for lunch and dinner.
South Bass Island, where Put-in-Bay is located, is only 2 by 4 miles and with over 2 million people visiting annually (typically between May and September), the people watching and action is phenomenal (you’ll see more of that in my next post)!
I don’t know about you, but there’s something about a Merry-go-Round that draws me to them. You can take a ride back in time for $1.50 on Kimberly’s Carousel, dating back to 1917, and bring back some of your sweet summer time childhood memories!
Although, when you look closely, the horses do have a rather frightening expression!
We stopped for lunch at The Boardwalk and I took a walk around while we waited for our food. The views were spectacular!
Back in the golf cart, Shari took us for a ride and I do believe she felt like she was 10 years old again! She was giggling and totally enjoying herself!
Put in Bay Winery’s exterior is simple, yet perfect!
I think everyone needs a wine bottle tree in their yard!
A great start to the 2nd day of our annual Girls’ weekend!
This looks like so much fun. Cruising around in the golf carts. I can see why the giggling would happen. It all seems so carefree.

Thanks Julie…I wish I had asked my friend Sherry to stop the cart for the first pic, so it wasn’t a bit blurry. It was scenic with the rolling road and tree canopy.

Great place. We visited back in mid June and the weather was lovely. We stayed at Ashley’s Island House and loved it. Did you see the Bald Eagles just outside of P-I-B?
