Arriving in Munich with my friend Richard was exciting for me because it was the first time I’d returned to Germany since living there in the late 70’s while in the Military. Our train ride was six hours from Budapest and I was looking forward to some solo exploration, after having been responsible for guiding 11 other travelers through four European countries for 11 days! I had reserved an Airbnb in Munich, located within walking distance of Marienplatz and other areas of Munich on my list of things to see.
Richard’s friend that lives in Munich, met us for dinner that evening at an Indian Restaurant called Sangeet. It was excellent! I left them to catch up and returned to the Apartment. The following two days we explored some of Munich. This gaggle of geese in the English Garden reminded me of the Serengeti migration…
Although the sky was overcast, it seemed nature’s colors were so vibrant! These ducks were swiveling their heads this way and that…
Approaching one of the squares, either Marienplatz or Oedeonplatz, the fountain’s spray was dramatic!

Contending with an occasional fine drizzle, we paused to take in the beauty of this lush tree-lined canal…
We visited the site of Munich’s 1972’s Summer Olympics, after asking a local’s recommendation for something to see before we to boarded our overnight train to Amsterdam. It was interesting walking near the area where 11 Israeli Olympians were kidnapped and later murdered.
Passing this bridge, I realized it formed the letter “M”…for Magical Munich! Actually double “M’s”!

M & M just like the candy. 😉 Your door shot is wonderful. I love to imagine what could be waiting when you go through a unique door like this. It has to be something very special. I can’t believe the brilliant green of those duck’s heads. It’s pretty hard to duplicate the colours of mother nature.

I had to come back to your pictures and see them once again. They are very nostalgic and melancholy for me…not as a downer but I lost my best friend on april 5th. in Munich, he passed away at age 50, I will not forget Munich, it is one of the most unique cities in the world, the valleys, the alps…the Schwabians, the haselbergl… the Octoberfest and street people. I hope your visit there was fantastic, thanks for bringing these pictures back for us.

Very ingenious double M shot. Your “Serengeti” photo is very nice too, but I’m afraid they’re geese, not ducks. Still beautiful though. Munich is a great place to visit.

I lived in the Moselle Valley region of Germany for a year, I was just eighteen, I traveled a lot, Munich full of beauty and ancient architecture of old world Europe, your photos are fabulous. I have also seen the underbelly of Munich, like all places it has one.
