Did you know Memphis, Tennessee has a pyramid (the 6th largest in the world) and that it’s being converted into a Bass pro Shop? I didn’t either! It was originally built as a sports arena to hold over 20,000 people. It’s quite impressive…
While walking on the Riverfront in Memphis, my friend Cindy and I decided to detour from the paved route to get a closer look. I think the cement wall contrasted nicely with the silver metallic of the Pyramid.
We passed under these bridges and the funny thing is I didn’t know Arkansas was right across the Mississippi River from Memphis.

We walked down to the river on the historic cobblestones. The area is being restored with a project budget of over $6,000,000.
This is Beale Street Landing along the river…
When the project is finished, you’ll be able to walk up this metal spiral structure from the shoreline…

Outside, the lighting was interesting as this man walked by…
There is a monorail that will take you over to Mud Island…
The Memphis Queen II is docked here on the river…
These birds were relaxing…
The shoreline was quite picturesque…
Walking back we went up some steps and crossed over this bridge…
Memphis definitely has some surprises!

I am really curious about the silver pyramid becoming a Bass Pro Shop. Here they are always designed to look like they are a log fishing lodge. Usually quite rustic looking outside. It will be interesting to see how they incorporate all that shine steel.

Aw, that cobblestone warning sign is hilarious… I live in a town where cobblestones are the ONLY walkable surface, lol.
Also, it should be ‘an’ historic landmark, not ‘a’ historic landmark … oh my oh my oh my…!

I read the reason they have the sign up is they’ve been sued a number of times by people hurting themselves. As far as the grammar…you’re (not your) right!

That’s quite some structure, Sherry. 🙂 We have sports stadiums here which are now just ‘White Elephants’. It’s great that they’ve found a use for this one.
