My second day in New York City began with a train ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan on the D line, exiting near City Hall, with a loose itinerary of walking to the One World Trade Center — Little Italy — Chinatown — then taking a train up to Rockefeller Center – St. Patrick’s Cathedral – Central Park.
This is what I saw on the way to the One World Trade Center. Flower pots overflowing with beautiful tulips and a small cafe…

And we’ve arrived…to the new One World Trade Center. Construction is estimated to be complete this year. It will stand 1,776 feet, with 104 floors, and will be 408 feet taller than the twin towers.
It will be taller than Chicago’s 1,451-foot Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), and the third tallest building in the world.
The world’s tallest building is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, at 2,717 feet.

I like the building with its different depths as the lighter color is outer and more pronounced while the shadowed parts were like deep alcoves running down several floors. All your photos were pretty or interesting but liked the pink tulips and the NY sidewalk cafe! 🙂 cafe

I visited NYC with a friend in May of 2001. He wanted to take me to the Twin Towers, but I was tired from being dragged all over Manhattan, so I opted just to look at the buildings from afar. Strange, though, as we got closer, I developed an awful feeling, just looking at them. I passed it off at the time to my reaction from lunch at a nearby Indian restaurant.

Those buildings are nice to look at but I wouldn’t want to take the elevator up there. I’m not crazy about heights, never mind extreme heights!

There’s a way to get over the fear of heights. You can make yourself gradually go higher and higher over the course of a few weeks/months. 🙂

This post had me in tears, because what happen on 11/9 and because I’m a bit connected to the date because of my birthday and because it’s also the reason why I will go back to NYC this year.
My favorite shot is the one with the arch with all the tulips – beautiful shot and all your posts has showed a new side of the city.

That shot of all the tulips through the tunnel looks like the tulips were painted by an artist. Beautiful!
