Northern Kentucky Wine Trail

The Northern Kentucky Wine Trail is a great way to spend an afternoon!  My friends, their parents and I packed a picnic lunch and visited two of the five wineries on the trail yesterday.  We’ve been to Camp Springs Winery, so we decided to try a couple of the others.  Our first stop was the Seven Wells Winery in California, Kentucky.

Of course, I had to scope out any cool photo ops and found this one…

If I remember correctly, we received 8 wine tastings (very small) for $5.00.  The wine was average.  We were allowed to bring our picnic lunch in.  It was nice of the owner to open early for us (2:00pm), but I do have to make an observation about his lack of personality for this type of work.  He was quiet and somewhat dry.

Next, we headed to StoneBrook Winery in Camp Springs, Kentucky.  After arriving, I ran down the hill to capture this shot…

The owner of this winery was very sweet and personable.  I asked how old the phone was and he said from 1947.  Something told me to ask when he was born…he said 1947!

Here’s the motley crew.  I love the last photo of Sherry feeling happy and free…

There were a couple of horses in the pasture…

We went back to Sherry and Jim’s house afterwards and this vase with feathers wanted to be photographed…

Driving home from their house, I had to pull over and get this shot of the gorgeous sunset…

Nothing like spending time with friends and drinking wine!

  2. I enjoyed the winery tour very much! Great images! My late husband was born in 1947; it’s not a coincidence for me to come across your article today, he has his ways from above to let me know he’s watching over us! This was one of those instances! Actually, I’m about to start working at a local winery here in Michigan, so appreciated your observations! Have a great week lovely lady! Kathi :O)
