My exploration of Covington, Kentucky ended at a restaurant along the Ohio River, meeting a girlfriend for a drink, before heading home. The Cincinnati skyline was beautiful…
There was a view of Mt. Adams, an upscale neighborhood of Cincinnati and the Holy Cross-Immaculata Church. The Seventy-Fifth Jubilee Booklet for Immaculata, published in 1934, contains this description of the Good Friday Pilgrimage: Promptly at midnight, a steady stream of pilgrims begin wending their way to this shrine of the Immaculate Conception to make their annual pilgrimage of praying the steps. There are men, women and children, even babies in arms, in the massing. There are Catholics and non-Catholics all crowding together and making their way to the top of the stairs. On every step is said an Our Father and then a Hail Mary. Up the one hundred and eight steps the penitents proceed to a life sized crucifix (the Wayside Crucifix) on the outer wall of the Church.
This has been a yearly occurrence on Good Friday for over 150 years!
I started with the end of my day first…so backing up…I passed by a church in Covington. I think the name was the Covington Church of God.

As I drove around the town, I wondered if I’d find any street art and I wasn’t disappointed…
I wanted to make my way towards Newport, Kentucky, which is located right next to Covington and was pleased to find my way…without directions. I pulled over and jumped out to capture this building. I love the pretty pink and blue!
I HAD to stop when I saw this unusual tree…
And Newport had street art!
I’m having fun being a “Tourist in my own City”! You should try it. You may discover what you’re looking for…right in your own backyard!

Our king is coming on Wednesday – so the town is getting painted just … Landskrona will 600 years old. So we need all the sun we can get. Sure he will get a day full with snowstorm. *laughing.

I wish Olive Hill would paint its buildings in bright colors, actually, I’m thinking more along the line of Tuscany colors. Yes, we are 2/1/2 hours away. Once I made it to the airport in 2 hours. I don’t know how I did that, since I’m a slow driver for the most part.
