Having read the book, “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Tim Ferriss a couple of years ago, I knew there were options for having a career that didn’t entail being stuck in a cubicle or office every day, living for the weekends…until retirement. According to Cody McKibben, location-independent professionals – or a digital nomad – is someone who leverages technology to work wherever they want – be it from home, your favorite coffee shop, on the beach, or even from the other side of the world!
While researching a variety of options for living this type of lifestyle, I’ve been amazed at how many people are blogging about their travels and adventures, while working as digital nomads. Some of the ways they make their living are as freelance writers, affiliate marketers, web or graphic designers, photographers, and other odd jobs. There are ways to obtain free accommodations such as house sitting, couchsurfing, or working on organic farms.
The above photo is from a trip to Laos that I went on in 2009’…so if you’re fortunate enough, put in the work, and overcome the fear…you too can work from anywhere you’d like!
We’ve all heard, follow your passions…it’s never too late! I know that anything worth having entails hard work…so I’m gearing up!
