Art expressed through Fashion

I’ve always loved clothes.  Probably because I am tall and slender and most things look good on me.  In the last few years, I’ve been buying more sporty type clothing, for travel.  Items that wick, are light-weight, dry fast, have SPF, etc.  It’s still fun to look occasionally…

“It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules.” ~Alexander McQueen

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”  ~Audrey Hepburn

I used to think fashion was a waste of time.  But now I realize it is just another form of art.

This colorful sweater appeals to the whimsical side of me!

Fun!!

This design appeals to the naughty side of me!

“Fashions fade, style is eternal.” ~ Yves Saint-Laurent

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.” ~Coco Chanel

  2. Do you know who the photographer of the black and white, body-painted woman? That photograph is so very similar to the NZ photo of the year for last year, though the model and pose are different. It will make me crazy if I can’t find out if it’s the same photographer!
    btw – great post!

  4. Those are some fabulous fashion pics! (Especially the black and white hat ensemble. My favorite color combination!) One of the biggest things I miss while traveling is getting to wear fun clothes!

  5. I don’t know a thing about fashion, but the first photograph was mesmerizing to me. I couldn’t take my eyes off it for quite some time. Thanks for sharing it.

  6. Hi,
I could only laugh at the painters hat, I think that looks ridiculous. :)
I love the art work on the nails, and I love the way the hair is done in the last photo, I have never seen hair coloured like that before, very intriguing, unusual, but very nice as well.

  7. I have always just known fashion must be art in another form; so did you deep down, really. You write, you travel, you take pictures; the adventurer in you is “art”
Me I love art, writing, designing, sewing, and anykind of planning where paper and a pencil is involved. That is exactly where those outfits began!
I love the ballerina with the cracked mask!
    Sorry, getting too chatty.
    Liz

  8. I wouldn’t be caught dead in half of those ‘fashions’, but oddly enough, I do like the girl’s hair in the last photo. A a norm, I prefer the natural look, but her hair is pretty cool. :)

  9. I have very little patience for fashion. I like clothes and I can appreciate fashion as an art form, but I have no talent for putting an outfit together and if I do have the extra money to spend on clothes, I usually buy something else! Most of the time I stick to a tee shirt and jeans or cargo short, depending on the season. It does go out of style, it’s easy to match, and looks acceptable on just about anyone. The styles right now are ridiculous. Not for girls with hips!

  10. I have started playing a game with myself as I follow what you are posting on Pinterest boards. How will she put the photos together to form a topic? I didn’t see this one coming but I love it.

  11. Fashion is what we make it to … my favorite today must be the cabbage girl – have seen a dress made out British Pounds … too, brilliant. Great choice of photo’s again.

I'd love to hear what you have to say
